At the tender age of 13, Rafael Monterrey found himself boarding an airplane headed toward Spain, while leaving his family behind in Cuba. Just six months later, Rafael flew to Florida and loved the area so much, it moved him to make Fort Lauderdale his new home. Once he got settled into living in the United States, Rafael introduced himself to everyone he could in hopes of making a name for himself. The locals embraced him and told him to dream big and have confidence in the possibilities of what life has to offer. Today, Rafael is well-known and highly respected throughout South Florida.
