I have lived here in a Hud building for a year. It is supposedly housing for low income srs and disabled. However, it is 6 floors and the elevator goes out every month for 2-3 hrs each time leaving those in wheel chairs and canes stuck on various floors/hallways. I have asked a few times, why do they just not fix it once and for all like the normal complex (where everyone would move out if they had to live with this)and there is no clear answer given. The apts are the sq footage of studios,... but a wall is put in the center of the room (with two big window size openings in it), so they can charge a 1-bdrm rate, however I have 2 cats who play at night and frequently wake me up due to the large openings (i.e the bdrm is not a true separate room), they put indoor/outdoor carpeting in so you are in winter constantly shocked including sparks when you turn on a light switch, etc. And why all this??? So the owner makes more money and is constantly filled. Do you think they could keep the average tenant in this building. No way. I just spiraled down from a normal middle class life (Due to hep c), to this nightmare and I cant believe what disabled and low income people are subjected to and taught to feel this is 'normal'. Anyway, so now Im in the process of being reincarnated, I am sooooo eager to move into a normal apt, but as Im low income its going to be difficult to find anything I can afford anymore the prices have gone sky high. Thanks for considering me in this trippy and great project.
