Morley Manor Co-op

Just read the negative review and not quite sure what planet the writer came from. To those of us who live here, Morley Manor is one of the best places to live. There is a lot to do but you decide how much you wish to socialize with the other residents. Yes, securty is tight - there are several single women in residence and they value the security - and like many large complexes you have to be a bit flexible.
The residents break down into three broad catagories - still working, snow...
birds, and year round retirees. It is a viable option for anyone in those catagories. It is close to shopping, several good places to eat and a great future with Ford Motor Companies renovations along Michigan Ave. My wife and I looked at other avaiable options in Dearborn, Plymouth and Northville.

Not an Apartment...it's a Co-op

I don't know why Morley Manor is even included here since it is not an apartment...and not a condo either. It's a co-op, which operates under a whole different set of rules and regulations which would make most run in the other direction rather than move into a place like this. But---to each his own. I had many years experience with this particular complex. Not my cup of tea at all. The residents are over-enthusiastic in running a security check on basically anyone who walks through the... door; unless you are buzzed in by the resident you are visiting, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" If this complex were located in the middle of the worst neighborhood on earth---I could somewhat understand the general paranoia about who is entering or exiting the building, but the residents here take that delusion way way too far.

On a positive note, the facilities on the first floor (for resident use) are generally very clean and kept up nicely. The public bathroom is always immaculate. However, if you need assistance from any member of the "staff" at this complex, good luck! Gone or there "visiting" with their own pals inside the management office. Very annoying. In dealing with this lot, you must be assertive and confident at all times. Don't let them intimidate you. Don't let them see you sweat. It's kind of like stepping into Mayberry RFD with the Mean Girls/Guys running the show. A sight to behold that's for sure.

I happened to have parents who needed to feel parented by this complex. They were elderly and frail and didn't get out much. To them, Morley Manor was "wonderful" because they felt safe. And maybe that' s what this place is best for accomplishing before that next step into assisted living---or a nursing home.

clean n quiet

A cooperative makes you a member of a community that was envisioned as an affordable, yet extremely desirable place to live. We have the freedom to go on vacation, entertain, exercise and live in a great complex, within blocks of the new west Dearborn restaurants, shops, churches, and doctors' offices...and all without the worry of shoveling snow and wondering about safety; our security system takes care of that. Your monthly maintenance fee takes care of your property taxes, heat, air... conditioning, electric, and water.
