I regret moving in

When I first applied to move in, I basically had to pester them, otherwise I'd get no communication. I had to wait 2 weeks past my move in date because they were "cleaning". When I did move in, it was very clear that they hadn't cleaned or did any maintence. Light fixtures weren't on, the drawer on the stove was off, the blinds were disgusting, the bathroom mirror was nasty, dead bugs everywhere, and there was no shower head.
While living there I dealt with a front door that had gaps and let in...
all kinds of bugs and rain water. The entrance always had spiders no matter how much I cleaned it. On two seperate occasions, wasps got into my apartment, even though I hadn't openned any doors or windows those days. I told them I was allergic and needed this fixed asap, but they did nothing.
My hot water was frequently out, and once it was out for about 2 weeks. My dishwasher flooded twice, and when I called the emergency maintence line all they said was "put a towel on it".
One of my neighbors set fire to their mattress on the sidewalk in front of their apartment.
When my first year was up, I told them I wanted to go month to month, and waited about 2-3 months to sign the new lease. They made it sound like it would be no issue and me being naive, I didn't read the new lease. It was a yesr lease, and I didn't know until I moved out.
When I finally got a letter that I thought was my deposit check back, it was instead a list of charges I owed. They were charging me for early cancelation and for a missing shower head.
I asked what happened to the month to month thing and they showed me the year lease I failed to look over. Then I mentioned that I took the shower head because it was the one I brought with me when I move in, and told them to check the checklist I turned in when I first moved in. They said they lost it and asked maintence, who backed them up saying it was unlikely.
I had to pay them $996.
If you move in here, make sure you keep evidence of everything and get copies of every piece of paper work.
As a final note: my lawyer brother-in-law looked over the lease and said it looked like it was pulled from the internet and it contradicted itself several times.

I've lived here for 9 years. Run from this place.

I've lived here for nearly 9 years and I can't wait to be moving this month. First I'll go down the list of all the appliances that don't work properly. The dishwasher? Doesn't wash dishes. The dryer I'm paying an extra 40 dollars a month for in my apartment? Doesn't dry my clothes. The oven is electric and is an absolute monster to use. The laundry room connected to the office has 2 washers and 1 dryer out of the four washers and dryers that could fit in there. The fridge is average though so I... guess that's good news. Speaking of the office, I have no idea who works in there since it seems every time I go in there the last property manager quit, and it's no wonder when one (of many) of the drug addicts just returned home from federal prison, and there's up and coming gang activity(not related to the aforementioned drug addict), and there's several people I know who elected not to pay their rent due to the moratoriums. There's a playground on property that was a joke when it was in repair, it's just a slide that would keep a 3 year old entertained for maybe 20 minutes, and now it's overgrown with weeds and crab grass. All the flowerbeds actually, are overgrown with weeds and crab grass. If you for some ungodly reason decide to move here anyway, then to the discerning parent: don't put your children in the Bath Public School system. I have attended Okemos for 4 years, Bath for 4 years, and Haslett for 3 years and I can solidly say that if you care even a little bit about your child's education, drive them or find somebody to drive them to either Haslett or Okemos so they can actually have opportunities so that when they grow up, they can avoid one day signing a lease for a place like this.
