Maintenance requests can take weeks to be addressed. Pools are filthy, pool area not maintained. Right now the pools have algae and the Paseo pool gates have been chained shut for a week with no note or explanation.

unprofessional, unit not ready for move in
Upon moving in, there was a list of problems that were not evident until the first week we started using items: dishwasher doesn't work (still not working 2 weeks in), light did not work, ants all over kitchen (we took care of this, not wanting poison sprayed), kitchen water was not clear, kitchen faucet had to be replaced, blinds wouldn't come down, rattling in air conditioning vent (still not fixed), sink not draining in the bathroom. We were told the carpet was brand new, it is not; the old... tenant popped her head in and introduced herself and said, no, this is old carpet. The maintenance folks are super friendly, I think they have too many orders and it takes forever to get to us, but bottom line, these should have been addressed BEFORE renting it out to us. Plusses: friendly neighbors and staff, pretty good sound proof in walls, great area.

Poorly managed!
The best thing about Villa La Jolla II is the residents. The buildings are newly built. However they are poorly constructed and inspected. The management communicated poorly regarding completion of work orders. My blinds didn't close all the way and the toilet ran for eight months before it was replaced. The appliances are bottom of the line. I dried my towels on the balcony because the dryer took two or more hours to dry them. The electrical outlets in my bathrooms stopped working. The... maintenance worker told me that the problem was the circuit breaker, and he would replace it if it happened again. The building is rarely cleaned and the grounds poorly cared for. The elevator stopped working several times (in a 55 and older community). I was told that a maintenance company had not been contracted. There were many false fire alarms and an actual fire at 3 a.m. when a maintenance cart caught fire in a garage under the apartments. A maintenance employee entered my apartment without his mask completely covered his face. I learned that some of the staff had contracted the Covid-19 virus. I contacted the health department because this information was not communicated to the residents, some of whose health is at risk . Afterwards there have been several instances of Covid-19 in the staff and signs are posted outside of the office. The refund of my deposit was shorted when I moved. I sent several emails to the accounting department, who didn't respond and don't published their phone number. I visited the onsite leasing office, who slammed the door in my face. The additional money was finally refunded to me. Obviously I don't recommend living at Villa La Jolla II.

We have been living here for many years. Really like the community and very grateful to be here. I have a lot of respect for the great staff, very pleasant, helpful, sincere and they do care very much about the tenants and the community. Great resident neighbors. I recommend this great 55+ seniors living to family and friends. I wouldn't like to live anywhere else! Thank you for your fine work and help.
